Here we review original, pro, comic book art that has recently traded hands. These images are high resolution photos of the original artwork, not prints.

Punisher Max: From First To Last by Tim Bradstreet

This cover from Bradstreet is gritty and serious. There is a really magnificent use of negative space everywhere with that tiger standing out the most. Compositionally, the background imagery tends to point at The Punisher, through him, and into the that tiger again. The powerful light source above makes The Punisher look mean, and angry. Which is perfect here as this series tends to focus on realism for mature readers.

The Paperback version, containing 152 pages of all six books in the series (From First To Last), is using this image for a cover. It is currently selling on Amazon for $25, but this original art behind the cover piece is going up for Auction at the end of August.

The Incredible Hulk #62 Cover by Mike Deodato Jr.

I always talk about how important a strong light source is and here Deodato is using a very sharply focused spotlight in this image, with gorgeous details. The shadows under each character add drama and depth as they cut up the giant white oval. Compositionally, this image is pure genius. The giant white oval is the first shape to draw the eye, and after going around the oval a couple of times the eyes tend to gently rise up, into the darkness, revealing that title.

This is another auction piece starting on Comic Link at the end of August when it will most certainly trade hands!

Fantastic Four 100 cover re-imagining by Art Adams

Always remember, I select these images because they are very high resolution scans. Open up every image I post in a new tab to zoom in but especially this image here. This is one of the most incredible displays of comic book art I have ever seen put into a single image!

The owner of this piece indicates that he purchased it for his 50th birthday and waited on Arthur's commission list for over 3 years to get it done. How much did he pay? No one knows, but it is hard to imagine this 23" x 29" masterpiece selling for anything less than 5k.

Catwoman #68 Cover by Adam Hughes

Hughes provides an excellent use of foreground and background subjects to tell a story here. The hammer and sickle happen to cross in a way that we might have seen before offering a very unique composition, that eventually equates to foreshadowing.

Justice League of America 60 Cover Re-Creation by Arthur Adams

This is a really fun piece, likely another commission, where someone asked Adams to re-create one of their favorite covers. The original cover came from way back in February of 1968, and that original book can be purchased on eBay right now for about $45.00.

Adams' classic style, unique cross hatching, and his amazing craftsmanship has delivered once again in another incredible masterpiece, that still nods respectfully to his predecessors. Adams is a real class act.
