Jack "The King" Kirby 100th Belated Posthumous Birthday - Comic Book Artists Wake Up and Draw in Remembrance
Rather than make a birthday post in remembrance of the great Jack Kirby yesterday when it would have been his 100th, artists were still sharing drawings through the night and today so the post is now. Jack Kirby was born on August 28th, 1917 and is probably the most well known comic book creators name other than Stan Lee or Kevin Smith, yet you still may not know his name. He basically is one of the inventors of the superhero as we know them today. He worked for both DC and Marvel before they were even called DC and Marvel. But this isn't his wiki.
In celebration of the great works Jack left behind, many current and older comic artists took to their social media to share in their love of Jack Kirby whether it was his style or characters he created or made huge. Below is some of the great works and links to the artists:
Aud Koch
Kevin Eastman
Jerry Ordway
Drew Johnson
Gene Ha
Joe Jusko
Evan Dorkin
Duncan Fegredo
Jesse Hamm
Dan Schkade
Ron Chan
Colleen Coover
Paolo Rivera
Gordon Purcell
Ryan Sook
