This and the movie all that much alike?
From the description I believe this comic is tied directly in with MCU and not the comic book GotG versions so it should very much be like the movie and possible considered cannon with it.
I think you are right. These comic books are usually in direct connection only the movies. To give them more background and lay the ground work for the movie.
The funny thing is, that we had this comic at the book store I work in, but I never had the time to look inside :/
