I own this entire series. One of the best books of all time. Pretty good set of movies too. Frank Miller's art and writing style is fantastic and he is at the top of his game here.

Miller's art in these books always has a great sense of light source. That is why this black and white style works so well. LOTS of negative space at play here too. For example, that last image there...

The guy wearing glasses has half of his face painted solid black under his cheekbone. Then go to the next frame down and Miller zooms way out to a wide angle shot from above with that huge spotlight casting a giant white circle of un-touched awesome-ness.
