Y The Last Man
Y The Last Man is a comic book series that follows the only male surviver of a plague that wipes out every living male on the planet. The series was published in sixty issues by Vertigo.
In 2002, all living mammals with a Y chromosome simultaneously die. Only Yorick Brown and his pet monkey survived.
Society is plunged into chaos and humanity is doomed to extinction.
Yorick's mother, a member of the U.S. Congress, commissions Agent 355 to protect her son.
The two travel to meet geneticist and cloning expert Dr. Allison Mann. She is trying to figure out why Yorick survived and find a way to save humankind.
Due to damage at Mann's laboratory, the trio travel across the world to Mann's other labs.
During their trips, the group is chased by multiple parties who know of Yorick's existence and want to capture or kill him for their own purposes.
They also meet friendly women. Two women become pregnant with Yorick.
In China, the group find out that Mann's father, dr. Matsumori is also still alive and has created many clones of is daughter. He also reveals that Yoricks monkey had been one of his lab animals. He ended up in Yorick's custody by accident.
When Mann learns that Matsumori plans to murder Yorick, she kills him. Armed with the samples and information she needs, Mann remains in China to work on cloning.
Mann successfully begins cloning humans, and society eventually stabilizes. At least seventeen Yorick clones are produced, and geneticists are able to produce clones of other males.
