Now that I have your attention...

I've had this fantastically funny piece of artwork for more than a decade. It was a gem that I picked up at a Wizard World Philadelphia comic convention, as part of an art jam/charity auction to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. A group of artists got together and in front of a live audience created great drawings, passing the paper to other artists to continue. The process resulted in some unusual pairings, such as the one posted above! All the results were then auctioned off for the CBLDF.

I've pimped some awesome comic book related Humble Bundles in the past, and I'm back at it again! I've scooped up some great comics from Image and Valiant while supporting worthy causes, but this time it's really something special for comics aficionados out there... and thankfully I caught this one early on. You've got almost two weeks to jump into the Jack Kirby and Will Eisner Centennial Celebration! To make it even sweeter, charity proceeds from the bundle are automatically set to benefit the CBLDF (cbldf.org) and the Hero Initiative. (heroinitiative.org) So you see, I posted that picture for a reason! Lured by humor into a charitable deal that benefits everyone!

About Humble Bundle

Humble Bundle (humblebundle.com) is a digital storefront which has been operating since 2010. Originally centered around games, it expanded in 2014 to include ebooks, audiobooks, and digital comics.

The concept of the Humble Bundle centers around game developers, studios, and other content creators offering their content at deep discounts or in a "pay what you wish" model. However most bundles do contain tiers which specify certain minimum amounts to be paid, in order to unlock all of the content in that tier. The customer actually has the ability to specify what percentage of their payment goes to each of three categories; the bundle's contributors, the Humble Bundle company itself, or to charity.

The Kirby & Eisner Centennial!

Jack Kirby and Will Eisner are two of the biggest names in the history of comic books. The contributions of these two men greatly advanced the comics form and left an indelible impression on the entire art world and our very culture to this day.

While neither of these titans still walks among us, their creations carry on. Eisner and Kirby were both born in 1917, and this year San Diego Comic-Con International is celebrating their achievements and honoring the centennial of their birth.

About the Bundle!

This bundle contains $449 worth of digital books that explore the lives and creations of these legendary artists. They're pulled together from award winning publishers Dark Horse Comics, Dynamite Entertainment, Image Comics, TwoMorrows Publishing, and Fantagraphics.

As with all Humble Bundles you're free to donate any percent of your purchase to charity, and choose any charity you wish. The two highlighted for this deal and set as the defaults are The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and The Hero Initiative. The CBLDF is an amazing organization that has been battling censorship and preserving the First Amendment rights of those in the comics community for many years. The Hero Initiative is a chance to give back to those who have given us so much. It is dedicated to providing support to comic book artists and craftsmen in need. Many creators who worked alongside, or followed in the footsteps of Eisner and Kirby did so with little pay, no rights to their creations, no pensions, no healthcare. The Hero Initiative has to date been able to give back over $700,000 to these sometimes forgotten comics veterans.

So do everyone a favor, and donate to this Humble Bundle while you can. Help yourself to some amazing reading material while helping so many creators in times of need.

Grab this very special offer at this link while you can!

Hey, if a muppet and a mutant making a dick joke gets even $1 more into the hands of these charities, and one more person enjoying the artwork of Eisner and Kirby... then it was all worth it!

Woah! I honestly did not know that humble bundle did things other than video games. Checking this out!

Yeah, this is the third bundle I've participated in. They've been doing it for years, but I wasn't into digital editions until recently. Now I love building up my "eLibrary" when good bundles come around.

I'm a huge fan of Humble Bundle, thanks for spreading the word!

It's so sad how they barley got anything for their work :(

Eisner did fairly well for himself. He was a pretty astute businessman on top of being an artist. He retained a lot of his ownership in creations and ran a studio where he hired other artists.
Kirby was of course greatly undervalued for his massive contribution at Marvel especially. That's why a charity like the Hero Initiative is so wonderful!

Yeah, it's great to hear about it.
