First Appearance Friday ~ Gabby (AKA Honey Badger)
In January of 2016, the title, All New Wolverine released its second issue and it quickly became a hot commodity. Why you might ask??? Well it features several first appearances but most notably one of young Gabby.
Gabby is a clone of X-23...Laura Kinney...who is a clone of Wolverine. So is Gabby Wolverine’s grandclone?!? I dunno...what I am here to tell you is this book is hot!!!
With raw copies selling from $30-$50 bucks and CGC graded 9.8 copies fetching $150-$200, these fly off the walls of comic shops throughout the land. Wolverine is hot. X-23 is hot. It’s only batural that folks are looking for the next evolution in the family.
She doesn’t get her code name of Honey Badger for a while after this in issue #28 of All New Wolverine. Take a look at how that unfolds...
There is also a 1:25 variant of her 1st Appearance in #2 by David Lopez that fetches some insane cash. Raw copies fetch between $150-$250 while a 9.8 sold for $450!!! That’s nuts for a 1:25 variant that came out a year and a half ago yet...that’s the crazy world we live in.
There is also a 2nd printing of the book that has a slightly different coloring on the title.
Funny part is that it took a couple of months to catch on. When we found out that this was heating up we checked and found we had like 12 copies of the regular #2 sitting in the back. Lovely. We also found we had 2 copies of the variant. One which was sitting on the wall with a price tag of $15 bucks. Nutty to think that it’s now a consistent $200 book yet nobody gave a shit when we had it for $15. That’s conics for ya!
These books still kinda fly under the radar. Lots of retailers do NOT pay attention to current recent trends. This means that if you hunt a bit you’ll most likely find it for cover price or close to it. Raid dem boxes folks!!! These books always make a solid investment...especially if found for close to cover.
