A Sincere Thank You

In the comic and "nerd" community that I mainly hang in here, there are a bunch of folks who have been rockstars. They were all super supportive and encouraged me along even when it was a bit tough and I wasn't sure of myself here. One of those people is the awesome @bryan-imhoff. I was super stoked to find out that we were only about an hour and a half apart. He hit me up one day and said he was thinking of coming down to hang at comic shop, Conquest Comics and I could not have been happier. He came and I showed him around the shop. We talked all sorts of nerdy shit from comics to his own comic he's trying to get off the ground. You can actually support his efforts right here!!! https://fundition.io/#!/@bryan-imhoff/fzjpdacz9 Please do take a peek and throw a little love his way on this as he is one of the good ones who is helping dummies such as myself to advance here.   Anyway, he was also super informative on this entire platform. He has been here way longer than I ,so naturally he has some stories and dropped some tasty knowledge on me. He is enthusiastic about what the future holds for Steemit and all the applications being built around the Steem Blockchain. I always feel like I am going to school when we speak as I just thirst for the knowledge he has and he seems more than happy to dish it out. I am sure he secretly regrets exchanging numbers and wishes I would get hit by a bus but...not gonna happen Bryan!!! You are stuck!!!   After I closed up the shop, Bryan, my son, and myself went to go grab some grub so I suggested Carrabba's. Love that place and I would eat there daily if I would not go broke. Bread, oil & herbs?!? Delicious...anyway, we had a great time chatting it up about a ton of random stuff and then headed back to the shop but not before snagging a picture. Bryan was the first friend from Steemit that I actually met in person and I appreciate him taking the drive down. I have learned a tremendous amount from him and look forward to our next meet up. I hope to see ya in Baltimore next month for Con, brother!

Since then, he has been insanely helpful at setting me up with my own blog and using the plugin from @steempress. So I just wanted to not only test this out as this is the first post I  am writing on here, but to say thank you to a friend for the support along the journey thus far. It's folks like Bryan that make Steemit an amazing place and we need more Bryan's here. I hope that down the road I can throw some amazing support to some clueless but hungry Steemian, the way Bryan has to me. Thx brother!   Blewitt   To check out Bryan's campaign, click here!!! https://fundition.io/#!/@bryan-imhoff/fzjpdacz9

Aww, you're going to make me blush! Thanks for all the kind words! As I hope I've said before, I'm just happy you're here. You've come on strong as an enthusiastic and supportive member of the #comics community and I love it! Not to mention you're one entertaining dude! We'll have to do Carabba's again soon. Although I accidentally left my leftovers in my car that night, the somewhat rancid smell of chicken and mashed potatoes that ensued a day later hasn't lingered enough to deter me. It was quite tasty before I left it to rot!

Lol. Mmmmmm. Not gonna lie, I know that smell too well. I left Chinese food in my car a few weeks back when shit was like 98 degrees every day. Completely forgot about it for days. Never smelled a thing...until I moved it. I was like what’s this?!! Then I guess that stirred up everything and it was horrid.

Seriously though. Thank you so much. You’ve been a tremendous help my friend.

If either of you guys make it out to Oahu give me a shout ahead of time. I'll buy you a beer.

Not too likely, I am not very well travelled... but will do! Did you fare ok in the recent hurricane? Stay safe!

My neighborhood barely was touched. Not even an inch of rain and the wind direction for me was such that a mountain was blocking most of it. So, very fortunate!

Glad to hear it! I’ll chalk it up to Java battling it back like it was a Morebucks franchise. (Love that little guy!)

Glad you guys were ok. Scary stuff. There was a Comic Con this past weekend there that ended up being cancelled.

I’m going to hold you to that! Lol. I’d love to head out there one day. Thanks! I have a buddy who is a radio DJ out there. No idea the station but his show is called the Time Machine. Ever hear of it?

No, can't say that I have, although I stopped listening to the radio quite a while back.

Yeah it's funny. I pretty much either do audiobooks when driving...or silence. I rarely listen to the radio anymore.

@bryan-imhoff is part of the Steemit #comics hashtag original gangsters here, that is some elite bald head there. As I have seen others come and go he is definitely always here and all you nerds should toss a vote and more to his fundition https://fundition.io/#!/@bryan-imhoff/fzjpdacz9 Very cool he got to check out your shop in person, I kid you not every time I see pictures it makes me smile, really looks like a welcoming store sit in for a few hours.

Been considering SteemPress for a while just for post scheduling alone, but if I did that it would be with a rehaul of the dot com itself. I have a server for OpenBazaar on Digital Ocean that I could created another droplet and throw Wordpress on just for this... ugh, so much work though.

Pretty sure I sat there for more than a few hours, and it was quite impressive and very welcoming... although largely due to the company of the esteemed Mr. @blewitt himself!

I am enjoying SteemPress, largely because I was already trying to get my own personal sites set up anyway. I don't know if I would have jumped into it fully otherwise. I had been copy pasting my stuff from Steemit back to my personal site, this saves me time and they often throw in a nice supportive upvote as well. WordPress is nice to kind of stretch out and be able to organize your content in all the ways Steem doesn't quite support yet. Then I also usually tack on FinallyComments so people can Steem comment and vote from my own site if they want! It's an extra step but it's some pretty simple copy & paste. I believe SteemPress is working on implementing such functionality natively in the future too.

That would be awesome to have the commenting as well on the blog. As you mentioned I’m sure these are things that will eventually be commonplace.

Well said! It’s a very crammed store. Not the spacious and roomy shop that has pretty displays and little product. We. Cram. It. Full. Lol

But yeah we will have folks come down and have luck and just chill. It’s inviting in that aspect and we have stools throughout for people to pull up and just chill.

You are also correct that we should ALL be supporting one of our owns efforts to produce his own comic. Let’s all make an effort to do so and I’ll be throwing some towards it myself. But at least vote high as it goes to help that project. He’s one of the good ones folks.

You should try and get on it. Make a simple one and start there. Or find some dirt on Bryan and force him to help. How do you think I did this?!?

I’m glad I negotiated you into destroying the negatives... waitasec... those photos were taken on a digital camera... Dammit! Tricked again!

But I used my old flip phone camera so it's grainy as hell. Good thing for you I have not upgraded my cell phone in 16 years...

Sorry for having it look like a big run on...first time using this program!

According to documentation you should also have a setting for auto upvote https://wordpress.org/plugins/steempress/

How easy was this to set up? Actually, what is your tech knowledge? Do you know any code (even html)? Do you think you could have done it without the Hoff?

I probably would have got to it eventually and while I’m dumb when it comes to all this, I think I could figure it out if I have to. Having “the Hoff” help was super helpful and saved me the time of screwing up 38 times before getting it right and allowed me to get started now instead of “later”. Which is what would have happened if it were solely up to me. I know nothing about coding at all and even less about life itself.

A successful first test I'd say! I'm still playing around with how many spaces to leave myself, and I also insert horizontal lines to help break things up and add some breathing room. It's really just a matter of experimenting to see exactly how it translates over from the WordPress editor to Steem.

Yeah I was like. Damn I fucked up. It looked great in the blog but here. Not so much. I’ll get it eventually.
