First Comic: Building the story of a reluctant hero

Setting: Harlem NY

A old abandoned building sits on the uptown side of Harlem, the building use to be an elementary school. The school was closed twenty years ago because the students were constantly getting sick. The rumor was that the school must have been built on a toxic waste dump site, or the building was riddled with asbestos.

Many lawsuits and parent teacher conferences were in flight at the time. The school tried its best to stay afloat. No one knew that Principal Altair an old school Army Master Seargant was leasing the basement to a research lab. The money receaved from the research lab was considerable. The only side affect was the children were getting sick.

Master Seargant Altair, Principal of PS 186 didnt want the children getting sick but the school needed to stay open the bills were pilling up. Their were very few elementary schools in Harlem and this school towered over them all, eight stories tall to be exact. No other building stood as tall in Harlem besides the Adam Clayton Powel building.

Principal Altair stood 6'4 had black but now graying hair but still faded the sides and kept it nicely tapered. He was for his age 57 at the time was in impecable shape toned and sculpted. He looked like he could run a marathon and win if he wanted too. He definitley didnt look like the teachers who were his age. Some of the teachers looked old and like they had given up on life already. Mr. Altair had an energy and vigor for life that all of the students loved him for and most of the teachers.

Kenneth Mitchell attended PS 186 during these questionable years. The funny thing was out of all the children in the school Kenneth never got sick. Kenneth loved Principal Altairs passion and energy and he wanted to go into the military one day. When Principal Altair would tell his military stories he felt as if he was right there. Kenneth didnt want to go to any other school, PS 186 was where he wanted to be. To be continued.

Part 2 We learn more about Kenneth his origins and find out more about Principal Altair.

This is part 1 of my first comic Im looking for a title. I will also attempt some drawing very soon for background and possibly characters.
