This is my entry for the 26th round of the comedy open mic contest. It has been a while since I entered. Is it funny? Not sure.
But your footprints on these sands.
Let's not find plastic buckets of sand
And a discarded kite at the edge
Where the surf and the shore meets.
Fluttering alone in the wind,
Or drunken love notes
Carved on tree trunks.
Please leave nothing
But your footprints on these sands.
And bottle whether empty or full.
Don't forget panties, bras or wallets here
And please do not leave condoms or
Your virginity here. Thank you.
Do not leave roaches or pills around.
Pack your puke and kids poop,
Leave only your footprints here.
Don't forget the diapers as you pass.
But your footprints on these sands.
Let the sun take the scent of your sweat
And let the sea take your feet
To the bottom with cockles and shells;
Leave nothing behind but your feet.
