We started 4Ocean 2 years ago (January 2017) and have been trying to learn and work as hard as we can everyday. We began 4Ocean after a post-college surf trip to Bali, we were devastated by the amount of plastic in the ocean. Why wasn’t anyone doing anything about it? One afternoon, we came across an old fishing village where fishermen were literally pushing their boat through piles of plastic that had washed up on shore. We realized that the proliferation of plastic threatened both the ocean environment and the fishermen’s livelihood. We wondered if the fishermen could use their nets to pull the plastic from the ocean. We hit the drawing board and realized that we could hire fishermen to focus on cleaning plastic from the ocean. As of July 2018, we have pulled over 1,000,000 pounds of plastic and trash from the ocean. 4Ocean now has offices in Florida, Bali and Haiti and is continuing to grow.

A 4Ocean-t 2 évvel ezelőtt kezdtük (2017 januárjában), és próbáltunk tanulni és dolgozni olyan keményen, mint a mindennapi életben. Elkezdtük a 4Ocean egy post-főiskolai surf utazás után Bali, mi elpusztult a műanyag mennyiség az óceánban. Miért senki sem csinált semmit? Egy délután találkoztunk egy régi halászfaluban, ahol a halászok szó szerint a tengerparton keresztül lemosott műanyag halomokat nyomották. Rájöttünk, hogy a műanyag elterjedése fenyegeti mind az óceán környezetét, mind a halászok megélhetését. Arra a kérdésre gondoltunk, vajon a halászok használhatják-e a hálókat, hogy a műanyagot az óceánból húzzák. Elértük a rajztáblát, és rájöttünk, hogy bérelhetnénk a halászokat, hogy összpontosítsanak az óceánon lévő műanyag tisztítására. 2018 júliusától több mint 100.000 font műanyagot és szemetet vittünk ki az óceánról. A 4Ocean most Florida, Bali és Haiti irodáiban van, és folyamatosan növekszik.
