An unplanned stop

My entry for today's #colourfulphotography is "an unplanned stop".

Last week I was on my to Javea in the north of the Costa Blanca, Spain, when my rental car started over heating. I pulled over to let it cool down. After about half an hour I decided the car was cool enough to try and drive it again, but with in minutes it was once again overheating and the advice was I should once again pull over and turn off the engine. By this time I was a few Kilometres from Gata de Gorgos, a small town about 15 minutes drive from Javea. I called the car hire company and informed them of the problem with the car, It was getting late and I did not want to be sitting on the side of the road on my own, so I decided to walk to Gata de Gorgos and try and find a taxi to take me the rest of the way. It was a hot walk and when I got there most locals were relaxing, outside a local bar having a beer.

The above photo is my first view of the village. Stopping at the local bar I asked a couple of old men if I may join them at their table, they were more than pleased to have this Spanish speaking foreigner join them, a bit of a break from their daily routine I guess. While knocking back a couple of cold ones and waiting for a taxi that the barman had organised, we started chatting and they told that this little village was famous for it's wicker industry and that the local shops were full of wicker stuff (more photos in another blog). The old men were so nice and friendly that the half an hour wait for my taxi seemed to pass really quickly and before I knew it I had to wave my new found friends good bye.
