In April i was on a wildlife photography tour with 2 friends near Salzburg. Robert who is from Salzburg does know a nice forest area there where we took some nice pictures of birds, wild boars and deer. I already showed you a picture of a kingfisher we saw there, unfortunately it was not really sharp because the kingfisher was pretty shy and flew away after we where able to take our first images from the distance.
Because our main target this day wehre birds we had our eyes up in the sky and on the braches of the trees nearly all the time. We where lucky to find some nice birds like this robin redbreast. This bird was easier to spot like some others because of it's nice color but still it is pretty shy. With my super zoom lens and a focal lengh of 600mm on a APSC Camery (900mm full frame equivalent) i got some nice results. For most wildlife pictures it's essential to have such a long focal range and i think it was one of my best investments till now.

Although we where pretty silent and not that extremely close the bird started to fly away when we shot our cameras on continuous shooting. In the first picture you can see the bird flaying away from it's position. We where able to get some nice images of other birds like the crested tit or the bluetit and even a grey and a white heron this day. Always when i think about bird photography i think of the bird house my grandmother had in front of her kitchen window with a lot of nice birds visiting it every day. Unfortunately she moved to a smaller appartment in the city and now i don't know where i could take some nice pictures of birds except in the forrests near me.

I don't have luck when it comes to take pics of birds. I bet its because I'm not patient enough!
