BEAUTIFUL BROMELIADS (COLORCHALLENGE MONDAY RED)

in #colorchallenge6 years ago (edited)

The most popular Bromeliad is probably the pineapple. But there are over 3,000 species of Bromeliad, in around 56 genera. Originally from the tropics of South America, Central America and Africa. They are very easy to grow, and have very beautiful flowers.

These gorgeous plants are suitable for tropical or temperate climates, and can be grown in the fork of tree branches, because they don't need soil to survive. Their roots are only there to create balance, because the leaves absorb all the nutrients and water it needs

Once the Bromeliad matures and flowers, it will produce many offshoots, or pups, which are the exact clones of their mother. The mother plant will then slowly die, but it can last up to a year in this dying process. During this process the pups take nourishment from the mother plant, which help them to grow faster.

Ineresting reading and beautiful flowers. :)

What a way to die for the mother plant. Make clones of yourself and feed them with what is left of you.

Yep, sounds a bit psycho doesn't it.
