ColorChallenge WednesdayYellow --Golden rain tree(cassia fistula)/Dok Koon in Thailand
I found this amazing flower on a tree about 3 weeks ago.It had only one branch of flowers. In normal circumstances they bloom around March to April here in Thailand, not in July, and the tree is full of yellow flowers.
The golden rain tree is native to Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. The tree grows in tropical and subtropical areas.
It's the national tree of Thailand and the flower is their national flower. In India,it's the state flower of Kerala.
The golden rain tree is popular as a decorative plant in gardens, parks or in landscape settings. The plant is also used for herbal medicine.
In Laos, one of the neighboring country Of Thailand, the people offer the flowers to the temples for the new year and hang them up in their homes. They belief the flowers will bring good luck and happiness to their lives.(I may add superstition to it as well )
Isan Thais and Lao people are very similar in language and culture. In Isan region of Thailand, they speak Isan, which is similar to Lao language.Lao writing is different to Thai writing.
Chrysanthemums in Thailand are very pretty.
