WednesdayYellow - Daffodil Fields in the Skagit Valley
This is from a couple of years ago, when the winter was warmed & the flowers all came up about two weeks earlier than usual. People around here LOST THEIR MINDS and then the tourists panicked when the tulips were mostly gone in the third week of April.
Fun facts:
- One of the big bulb companies, RoozenGaarde, grows more than 450 acres of daffodils, which is above and beyond their 350 acres of tulips. Take that, tulips!
- This field featured here is about three years old, as daffodil crops are swapped out & moved around every three years, versus an every-year rotation for tulips (into something completely different). Daffodils don't lose their vibrancy as quickly, year over year, as tulips do.
