RE: A Friday Blue View in Manhattan Beach, CA
I've always lived about as far away from the sea as possible (In the UK that is!) and yet I've always absolutely loved being near water. Must be incredible to have all of those beaches on your doorstep!
Well...here's a little secret of mine. When I was down here on Wednesday, I realized I don't really love the beach. It's fine to visit occasionally, but I'm definitely not a beach person. I love living in Hollywood with a more urban feel!
Ah man, you're killing me! I guess it's a different kind of beach to a lot of our British coastline, but I imagine with your work you must be so used to being right in the action. Every year that goes by I feel like I want to avoid the general population more and more! To me the beach represents an escape from busy areas, a proper getaway!
I totally get it about wanting to avoid the general population! But these are popular beaches in So Cal so I doubt you'd thrilled by it. There's one place I've been wanting to photography (El Matador Beach in Malibu) but from what I've seen, it's so overrun with people at sunset it looks like a nightmare to me!
Just had a quick google, looks incredible! Those rocks make the perfect foreground interest too. To be honest I never thought about how crowded lots of your beaches must be ALL the time, easy to forget about (as a viewer) when you can't see behind the camera!
