Photography Colorchallenge Red Monday 30 April 2018

Two days ago when I was considering mowing my lawn for the first time this Spring, I noticed this little forest of crabapple trees.

I am amazed at just how RED they are. The leaves emerging on the old tree just a few feet away are also red, but not like this. These little trees are not even two inches tall—they are shorter than the grass.

I'm happy to have found them. We currently have two crabapple trees growing in our yard, both of which are past their prime. I'll winnow down this little forest and grow one or two new trees to replace the old ones. The old trees are beginning to bloom, something they do every Spring for a week or two. The aroma is heavenly during this time.

(But when I offer this suggestion to my wife, she says she'd rather have more fruit trees. And about that I agree.)
