ColorChallenge - Purple (Sunday)

Here is my 5th day in the Color Challenge that was started by @kalemendra.

Today's color is Purple - one of my favorite colors!!

I'm putting forth some photos of lavender plants.

So - a couple years ago my family had a lavender farm in Southern Oregon.  We were even one of the farms along the Southern Oregon Lavender Trail, although we were the smallest farm.  We had rented a 5-acre piece of land, hoping to buy it someday, once we had sold our old house in WA State.  But, unfortunately, the sale didn't happen right away, and we were unable to buy the 5 acres - where we had started our lavender farm.  So, alas - we lost our lavender farm.  We still have most of the lavender plants - at a friend's farm.  We transplanted them there, and hoped we could retrieve them at some point after we found a new piece of land.  But, unfortunately, we ended up buying a little house in the city, and our dream of a lavender farm has mostly fallen away - for now, and we really don't have room here for all of the plants.  We have 14 of them here now, and plan to get a few more.  We have also donated some of them to a friend, and I am hoping to give more of them to other people in the future. 

Here are some photos of our plants (we had started with approx. 400 lavender plants.)  We were planting them in circular rows.  these photos are from 2013 - our first year having any sort of harvest.

See all those black dots in the lavender behind us in the photo above?  Those are bumble bees!
