ColorChallenge - Monday Red with the rarest Toyota ever 2000GT

Usually it's quite unusual to see one of these, sometimes you're blessed with three at once! At the debut of the Lexus LFA (Lexus owned by Toyota) they brought three immaculate samples of the super rare straight 6 naturally aspirated Albrecht Graf Goertz penned Toyota 2000 GT.

Probably one of the most underrated sports cars of all time. Born in the 60s in Japan.

Spectacular cars. Much nicer than the gathering of Toyota/Scion 86's I saw, also in red:

Toyota has made some nice cars over the years. Thanks for showing me one I had never seen before.

Truth be told I only learned about this car when I was browsing through the Toyota section in the Gran Turismo 5 dealership and suddenly found this and thought to myself what the hell is that?!

I then learned about its history and that it was originally a car designed to be a Yamaha (you read right). In the end Yamaha built the straight 6 engine for Toyota and Toyota produced the car in the late 60s after Albrecht Graf Goertz, who had previously designed the BMW 507, put his touch on it.

It was actually also a Bond car!

That's amazing history. We have had Suzuki cars, why not Yamaha? ;-)
