Colour Challenge: Mostly Green Dragonflies and Damselflies
These are called downy emerald (Cordulia aenea), smaragdlibel in Dutch.
They are metallic green with a bronze shine, and the colour you see depends on the angle of the light:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO200, f8, 1/125s
Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO125, f8, 1/160s
Olympus Stylus 1s, 265mm, ISO200, f8, 1/160s
All the ones in the phots are young specimens; adults have bright green eyes, but they don't like to pose so I don't have photos of those yet.
Some of the much smaller spreadwings (Lestidae), pantserjuffers in Dutch, seem to have the same paint supplier:
Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO100, f8, 1/125s
Olympus XZ-1, 28mm, ISO200, f5.6, 1/80s
Olympus XZ-1, 112mm, ISO100, f8, 1/250s
Thanks for watching!
