Colour Challenge: Monday RED

For this week's Monday Red, I thought of this shot looking from the end of my town's meadows towards the town bridge over the River Welland. The brilliant red of the Virginia creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia - also know as American Ivy), is reflected in the river. If you know the plant you'll know that this shot was taken in Autumn, as the rest of the year the leaves as green, turning red later around September time.

Much as I love summer, and am trying to enjoy any sunny days we get here in England, I do love the change of seasons, and look forward to seeing these leaves turn red once more.

Hope you enjoy!

Great shot. Love the reflection. Any editing, or as you saw it on the day?

Spent a lot of time in UK but don't know where you are.

Thank you :) No editing, just in the right place at the right time with good natural light.

Wonderful when it works out that way! You didn't answer my question: where is 'the right place'?

Well spotted. I don't tend to give out my location to strangers on the internet 😜. I live in sleepy Lincolnshire. The home of fine seasonal veg and flat landscapes.

Didn't mean to pry, just like to get a sense of the environment the photo is part of. Closest we got to Lincolnshire is a roadtrip a few years back when we were visiting Canadian friends living in Cardiff, and took off from there to do a loop visiting some other friends. One of the stops overnight was Nottingham, good friend of our daughter's, then south to Oxford - no friends there but I am a huge Inspector Morse fan so had to visit a few 'shrines'! Enjoy your veg!

Haha! It's fine, I'm just a naturally cautious person. We're about an hour South East of Nottingham. Did you see the castle? In either Nottingham or Cardiff? I hope you endeavoured to have a good time in Oxford... Sorry, I can't resist a pun.

We lived in Cardiff with our friends for a month, less the week-long roadtrip, so saw all the city and most of southern Wales. Unfortunately Nottingham was just a drive-by to see our daughter's friend and family, no time to tour around. You didn't have to italicize - I think I would have broken the 'code'. Wish we'd spent more time in Oxford. Did see a lot, even had lunch at The Trout nearby - brilliant time!
