Nice effect. I played with a similar idea the other day. I like what it does to the subject and how it strengthens the background and of course pops the subject. What is your technique? I tend to use the color select tool to select most of the colour i'm after, then do an inverse selection to select all the bits i want in greyscale. Then I use the black and white tool in photoshop to desaturate and sort out the contrast of the B+W bits. If the colour select tool doesn't quite manage to get everything you want and some of what you want to remain coloured turns grey, you can use the history brush to revert it back to colored :)
Thanks for that info. I did a similar thing using layers. One layer desaturated and the other layer a touch of saturation. I cut the colour layer out on top and give it a slight drop-shadow to boost the pop of the subject image. Nice sharing!
