Color Challenge: Thursday Green
Green Mamba
For today's #colorchallenge initiated by @kalemandra I present a shot of a green mamba I found at the Reptile World Serpentarium located in St. Cloud, FL. This place is home to all types of reptiles including a giant king cobra and they also do live venom extraction shows.

The green mamba is a highly venomous tree-dwelling snake that is native to Eastern Africa. They can grow up to 6 meters in length and typically prey on birds, eggs, bats and rodents. This shy species is rarely seen in the wild and this elusiveness is typically attributed to it's green coloring which blends into it's arboreal environment.

They do live venom extraction shows? Do you know if they use the venom for pharmaceutical purpose, or is it just for show?
Pharmaceutical, they are one of the biggest anti-venom producers in the US

thanks @justncase, yes it was in a terrarium....definitely not getting within striking distance of it! Took a minute to find an angle with no reflections off the glass
