#ColorChallenge Friday Sky Blue

One amazing trip I took was to the Dry Tortugas, while there I snorkeled around Fort Jefferson. A massive coastal fortress, it’s the largest brick masonry structure in the Americas, composed of over 16 million bricks.

It took nearly thirty years to construct (1846-1875) and was never finished nor fully armed. Yet it was a vital link in a chain of coastal forts stretching from Maine to California. Though never attacked, the fort fulfilled its intended role by helping to protect the peace and prosperity of the nation.

Beaches and snorkeling locations are my favorite places to be.
