Color Challenge : Thursday green - Wild Green Paw Paw
This is my first entry for #ColorChallenge initiated by @kalemandra.....and its #thursdaygreen
So.... Here is a picture of the famous pawpaw just a couple of months before it turn yellow-ish.... But if u ask me.... This is the color state i prefer the most to admire the "carioca papaya" fruit..... Ain't it a beauty.....
Now that we are here.... Felt like i should educate us a little bit on this wonder of nature
*Note: if you wanna grow one of these in your location..... You gotta be in a location with high humidity, mild winds, as you don't want one of these ripping through your front porch.... And lastly warm climate
I substituted a green but ripe variant in place of banana last night to make my favorite bread (banana bread) because its flavor has a resemblance to bananas.
HIDDEN VALUE OF GREEN PAWPAW
- has a higher percentage of potassium than ripe papayas
*they also have a higher amount of PAPAIN than their ripe sisters, an enzyme which alongside chymopapain help improve digestion - Green pawpaw has a greater amount of CAROTENOIDS compared to tomatoes and carrots, and the ones found in them are more easily usable by the body when compared to other fruits
- it contains compounds that help improbe lactation in new moms
- For beauty.... It contains high levels of protease enzyme that have a de-sloughing property giving the skin a fresh and healthy look
WARNING
UNRIPE PAWPAW CONTAINS LATEX FLUID WHICH MAY BURN THE SKIN OR EVEN CAUSE AN ALLERGIC REACTION IN SOME INDIVIDUALS..... AND THE FRUIT CAUSES UTERINE CONTRACTIONS, SO PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD AVOID IT TILL AFTER THEY GIVE BIRTH.....
