Writing on Train // Color Challenge // Mini Haibun

in #colorchallenge6 years ago (edited)

I often write longhand in a memo book while on the train. In today's world where everyone has their face glued to a smartphone, my unusual behavior does occasionally get some questioning glances.

everyone staring

The staring may also have to do with the fact that I'm a foreigner in a land where 99% of all people are Japanese, but the fact remains that I do get more stares that usual when I pull my memo book and pencil out.

I also bring origami paper with me usually and make some use of it.

I get stares for this too. Crazy foreigner. But I also get some smiles, which is much better.

This mini haibun brought to you by coffee and my son's nap, may it last another few hours.

The haiku at the beginning was originally composed for the Writer's Block renga. The photo is for the Thursday color challenge, which is green, and the second haiku was written on the spot, but is a variation of one I've written in the past.

If you enjoyed this post, please like and resteem. Also be sure to follow me to see more from Japan everyday.

I post one photo everyday, as well as a haiku and as time allows, videos, more Japanese history, and so on. Let me know if there is anything about Japan you would like to know more about or would like to see.

Who is David?

I also love writing in my daily notebook... and I also like to read printed books. It is something alive and present. It's nice to hold these things in your hands and flip through the pages. Thank You!

Nearly everything important I compose, I always write out longhand.

LOL With a fountain pen, if at all possible...

Love it!
Writing longhand in a cheap spiral notebook...
still my favorite way to take notes, jot down ideas, freewrite!
The ink flows from pen to paper, and it seems to get ideas to flow in ways that typing at a keyboard does not.
