The secret of the blue eyes

The blue eyes' screen was unleashed by a group of Danish researchers. According to The Independent, scientists have found that blue-eye owners around the world have a common origin caused by a genetic mutation. Even though it is not known precisely when this mutation took place, there is evidence that the ancestor of blue-eyed people had lived in the Black Sea region almost ten thousand years ago.

Following a DNA-based study of blue-eyed people, eye color genetics experts at the University of Copenhagen have found that over 99.5 percent of blue-eyed individuals have suffered the same minor genetic mutation that determined the color iris. This indicates that the mutation originally took place in one person, who became the ancestor of all blue-eyed people in the world, was shown in the study.
Scientists can not accurately tell when this mutation occurred, but evidence suggests that this happened about ten thousand years ago, when there was a rapid growth of population in Europe due to the development agriculture from the Middle East and population migration in northern Europe during the Neolithic period. The mutations occurred at the OCA2 gene level and interrupted the production of melanin from the iris, causing the eyes to change in blue.

Although originally all people had brown eyes, a genetic mutation that affected the OCA2 gene in our chromosomes has blocked the ability to produce brown eyes, the Danish researchers said. Men and blue-eyed women have almost exactly the same genetic sequence in terms of eye color DNA. However, people with brown eyes have a considerable amount of individual variation in the DNA area. Specialists analyzed the DNA of approximately 800 blue-eyed, blond and open-skinned Scandinavians in darker-skinned people living in Turkey and Jordan, and concluded that everyone, probably with with one exception, have the same ancestor. For now, the details of why blue eyes have spread among the population of northern Europe and southern Russia remain a mystery.

Success is based on the color of the eyes, and blue-eyed people are more likely to do more in life because they tend to be more sophisticated and have better results in exams, according to a study by American researchers. A series of tests have shown that people with light eyes seem to be better at strategic thinking. Brown-haired people are successful in activities such as soccer and hockey, but those with bright eyes have succeeded in activities that require qualities in terms of time planning and structuring, such as golfing or learning for exams, the researchers said.

Joanna Rowe of Louisville University, who conducted the tests, said the results show an unexplored relationship between eye color and learning performance. Tony Fallone, psychologist at Bedfordshire University, who studied the color of his eyes, believes that this sign should be taken into account more seriously as an indicator of an individual's personality and ability. For example, academic successes have had two blue-eyed people, Stephen Hawking and Marie Curie, who have twice won the Nobel Prize for Physics and Chemistry. Moreover, researchers claim that blue eyes contain low amounts of melanin in the iris. Worldwide, only about 8 percent of the population has blue eyes.
