Color Challenge - Blue Friday - Abbey
This is my goldendoodle, Abbey.
Her father was a chocolate standard poodle and mom a golden retriever.
She's 2 years old now. She's a large dog, tall and tops the scales at 64 pounds. The vet told me she needed to weigh around 60 pounds. I suppose 4 pounds doesn't sound like much but that's 5% body weight.
I am not sure where the extra pounds are coming from as she is not a table or counter surfer. You know the kind, always begging and looking for food.
Abbey has an amazing personality. Sometimes I think she's a person in a dog suit. She listens intently and is quick to learn.
She laughs on command — not as in a vocal sound but she throws her head back when I say "Abbey, laugh." It gets me every time. Every. Time. I've tried to capture this but the photo never does it justice.
Although she is curious and maybe a little too eager to be with other dogs, she prefers humans. I am convinced that she believes people belong to her — they do, but I'm not going to let on.

Love her eyes -- so lovely. Truly.
Lucky you, that she has such a neat & engaging personality ! I love ♥ the Golden Retriever #dog, & since she has 1/2 .. I can see WHY she has a cool persona.
My Poodle also seemed to 'laugh'. She seemed like a Human, too ♦♦ Very much like your Abbey.
The other unique thing w/ my poodle is she loved to climb - right up onto a Pile of snow ! And she loved to #Travel with us; she got very disappointed, if she realized she was NOT coming along (the 'tip-off' was when we arrived at the Vet's office, to house her )
The poodle in her brings out her humour and dancing antics, and the golden brings out her chill, calm side. She's such a great dog.
Yea, Golden Retrievers are so-o-o very good with children. So gentle .
And it's so inviting when a poodle shows that 'humor' side; I experimented w/ this, when I first got my precious Koko.
I played games w/ her, & checked her expression to see if she 'got it' -- i.e., to see IF she was amused. And she was ! She was so smart, I miss her ...
Aw.....sounds like you do. Dogs lives are way too short. So you had a poodle?
Yes - her name was Koko, and she was so sweet.
She loved to go everywhere w/ me. I'd let her sit in the front seat (w/ someone holding onto her) sometimes; and as we drove thru the Forest, well.. she'd put her face out the window & would drink in the delights (meaning she'd LOVE all the scents of the forest ! )
Those were such special times; she also liked it when we'd take her for long walks - a mile or so.. in the evening.
Beautiful memories of your Koko.
Abbey likes night time walks too. She's a lot calmer then and doesn't mind a stroll rather than a walk.
such soulful eyes...Love her gentle spirit
