It is known worldwide for a specific stretch of its path, the located between Russian Hill and Hyde Street, where the road is distributed in eight turns, that was awarded the title of "street rnás winding of the United States". Every day hundreds of tourists come to the famous artery to photograph your slope of 40 degrees inclination arranged in zigzag. This urban design was made in 1922 by the owner Carl Henry, with the objective of reducing the slope that presented the street, making possible with this measure which could be journeyed by cars. In the film Vertigo, Alfred Hitchcock stood at number 900 of this street the home of the protagonist, and in the game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the street appears parodiada with the name of Windy Street, i.e. the street in the wind, making reference to the wind that usually blow in it.
