I collect Mr. Peanut stuff...
I started collecting Mr. Peanut items about 30 years ago after my wife and I went to an advertising collectible show. There were all sorts of well-known characters there: The Jolly Green Giant, Mr. Bubble, The Pillsbury Doughboy, and of course Mr. Peanut. Since at the time I worked for Nabisco, the owner of Planters Peanuts, I decided to collect Planters stuff. Over the years, I ended up with lots of cool items thanks to our company store, looking in garbage bins at work, and of course Ebay!
If you put peanuts in this manual nut chopper, after a while you get peanut butter.
I even bought a full Mr. Peanut costume from somebody in the Sales Department. I had to wear this at my kid's birthday parties. I remember one of my daughter's friends asking "Why does Mr. Peanut have hairy legs?"
This is one of my favorite items - It's a full domino set with Mr. Peanut on each tile. I don't know much about its history, but it's from Puerto Rico.
I especially like this card in the Wacky Packages collection. These trading cards spoofed well know products - Here, Plastered Peanuts is showcased.
Here's an interesting tote bag featuring our friend Mr. Peanut surfing in Hawaii. For a guy with a cane and a monocle, he's doing a pretty good job!
I thought some of you Steemians might be interested in this odd hobby of mine. Anybody out there with a cool collection? Please share. - Thanks for viewing!!!
I love the Mr. Peanut man. I sell quite a bit of Mr. Peanut collectibles. Do you have any of the store counter jars like these???
If you don't and like the looks of them you're welcome to check out my Ebay listings.
Happy Collecting! :)
