Collaborative Art – Flying along looking out the window of the car

I really like these art collaborations with @everlove. Here’s my entry based on her picture:

Flying along looking out the window of the car

Is what we see real or formed somewhere in our collective imagination and increasingly wonderful technology? What’s the point? The world seems to be changing very rapidly, the close by view is all a blur in motion. Off in the distance the strange sunset shines in an interesting sky and reflects on the bay. My thoughts wander to the misdeeds of the past and wonder about the future. Fire and ice.

About the making

Spot On:

I started with the picture that @everlove made. As usual I looked at for a while and nothing much seemed to come to mind. So I looked at it some more, lol. The first thing I thought of doing was putting a frame around it in Dogwaffle and making it looked half buried in the ground like some ancient work of art. I’d combine that with a picture of Dog-oh smelling the grass and call it something like, “What’d ya find there boy? I wouldn't smell that if I was you.” (Ah, the smell of art - just kidding) :D

Somehow that didn’t seem like a good use of @everlove ‘s nice picture. So I started looking through some of my photographs and ran across one that seemed to have some similar colors and themes.

I found this one of a refinery that I took at sunset with my Galaxy S7 out the back of a moving car. You can’t really see what it is but I liked the colors and feel of the reflections and patterns. Google photos processed it a bit and enhanced the look:

Refinery at sunset

I just did a pretty simple combination of the two images in GIMP. I started playing around with it some more but kind of ran out of time and changes were not making things look much better so I thought I would just leave it as is.

Thanks for reading! I always value your support!

So glad you left it like it is! It definitely has a feel of fire and ice, and the small white rays coming down from above, or going up from below, seem to really connect them in their contrast. The continuation of the potent golden stream through the darkness at the right really sets this piece off for me. This really came out awesome @lightsplasher.

I also think it's great how you shared your original thought. I feel that tuning in to what to do with the image is a very important part of the process. As an artist, I rarely plan my creations, so when the inspiration strikes it's fun to see where it came from. Thanks for sharing it all! <3

Thank you for the wonderful feedback and the original work! It is really great to be able to collaborate like this - I enjoy it a lot and it brings so many new creative works to look at.

I think collaboration challenges us in way as artists that we don't really face when creating alone. Thanks for jumping in and adding your dose of awesomeness to this community.

Didn't know you were quite a digital artist too. I mean I know you are creative and have an artistic mind that looks at things way beyond mostly people can but this is a new side of you for me and I love the work! :)

Thank you! I don't think I consider myself much of a digital artist or the way you describe me, lol. I feel like I'm more like someone that hacks around with software and knows how to do things. (Hacks in a good way, not the negative way we think of it always now) I've had some client work in graphics but I'm not one who makes a lot of original digital art. I would like to get better at doing it and I try to work on things to improve my skills. It has been pretty helpful for me to get used to doing something and posting it.

Hahaha yeah there are good hackers too. Hacking is a word that has garnered a lot of bad rap over the years. Basically, it just means to find shortcuts and to do things more efficiently. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Once wrote articles for a client on hacks to become successful fast. It was then that I understood the real meaning of the word. I am glad you enjoy it and if you keep working on it, you will definitely get even better at it.

It struck me as a kind of apocalyptic scene. The smoke reminding me of mushroom clouds.

I think there is that aspect of it, but that was not my primary feeling. From an apocalyptic view, things are very unclear - the fires of the refinery providing an easy way of life at the expense of an uncertain future. Just a few h-bombs and/or major volcanic eruptions could tip the scale towards a nuclear winter. Increasing use of fossil fuel and loss of forests could tip the scale towards higher global average temperatures and sea level rise. Fire and ice.

The outcome is yet to be. I hope there is some beauty and wonder in it as well and the fact that there are many things happening that we are not aware of.

Very nice photos, I really like the yellow sky and I vote and share this post.
Thank s ,friend.

Thanks friend, I appreciate that. I enjoy your photography very much too.

Oh, that is so amazing! I love collaborative art as it is a really true chance to see so many different yet so amazing creations. People are so different and you can "feel" it through their art! Your art made me smile - for me it is like a border between visible and visible world! Thank you so much for sharing it! Be blessed and much love!
