It appears I can potentially get points that convert BTO tokens that I might at some point be as to exchange for cash, properties, services, or other goods, just by doing stuff on my phone. Even this that I'm doing right now could conceivably qualify.

I am reading as much as I possibly can about digital currencies and I wonder if I know anything whatsoever. What would qualify as knowing something? I can remember looking at quite a number of different things but does this qualify as knowing anything? To know something might mean to be able to articulate something in some logical way. Isn't everything I'm looking at something articulated in some logical way? If so - and it seems it is so - why would I need to rearticulate any of it to create some logical articulation that qualifies in my own mind as knowing something?

It seems that if I go to a certain web site using my phone - one of a number of such web sites - and follow the directions there, I will have created an account on the block chain. I will then be given certain numbers. Also, my account will be associated with a balance, which is also a number. Then if I give someone one of the numbers I received they can, if they have certain other numbers, using their phones, add to the balance in my account. Certain complications arise. Would they require a receipt? But there it seems must be a protocol for transactions of this sort that do not obligate me in any way. Logic even suggests that this is the default protocol. You have used my public key and your private key to transfer funds into my account, for which I thank you over and over. Now those funds belong to me by virtue of the fact that I have a number - my private key - which I can use to transfer funds from my account - it is mine because I have the private key - to some other account - my bank account, for example.

To review, you can go to one of the sites listed in the links listed above and create an account on the block chain - using your phone. You will carefully read all the instructions, and think about what you are doing, and then, if all goes well, you will have an account on the block chain. You will at that point have in your possession a public key and a private key.

If you now attempt to transfer funds from your account you might find that your balance is zero, there are no funds to transfer, and you cannot transfer any funds. Your recourse will be to get someone to transfer funds to your account, something we have already discussed in some small measure, and which we can discuss more, I suppose, in future posts.
