Everyone should keep at least half their crypto as Bitcoin in a ledger or paper wallet
I just split all my crypto up , some in poloniex some in steemit some in mining pools....that way u cant loose as all of those seperate organiatins wont all go down together!
coinbase is still very safe and they can keep your coins safer than YOu can
AND since they are a big company that makes money, i cpins DO get stolen they can afford to actualy reimburse yoU!
and look at mt gox! theyrre about to pay back everyone in the dollar amount they lost (but like time travel paradoxes teach us, of the coins wouldnt have gotten stlenin teh first place butcoin price wouldnt have droped to $100 from $1000 and we wouondt be here iin teh same position! imagine a world where mt gox nver went down and it was still the ONLY exchange! bitcoin wouldnt have beenable to grow!
in a way exchanges getting hacked is GOOD thing! better now than letr! now papr wallet storage makes it so coinbase or poloneix CANt get hacked and have customers bitcoins stolen at least not more than a small percent .....
if u need ur coins that badly u should always have some in a seperate butcoin wallet!
I have coinbase, blockchain ios and bread wallet all on teh same phone, AND i have bitcoin android walet apps, bitcoin armory and i wanna start buying ledgers and handing them out
Coinbase is safe in that it is insured. But they have closed account for no reason and nothing is completely safe. They have been crashing a lot as well. Though it is reassuring that they are a US company. As far as Polo is concerned, it might not crash completely but when you cannot trade at all for hours at a time it is actually worse then being down completely. Just imagine if it slows to a crawl, does this all the time, and only some people can buy and sell. But you are stuck and your trade dont go through. This has happened to me and I dont trust the infrastructure of the site at the moment.
Nothing New. I moved everything off there because, like Polo, they are down all the time. It worries me some.
