The physics of coffee and cream- Adding cold cream to your coffee keeps it Hotter Longer!

Its more than just a beverage to fuel you in the morning

Coffee is love, coffee is live; there are people who can’t imagine their life without a cup of coffee. I am not one of them, I am a tea lover. But I understand the concept is almost same. When you crave for a cup of coffee, and you get to sip a hot cup…I mean wow! If you're a coffee lover, coffee geek, coffee nerd so here is something for you. I know there is nothing tempting about a cup of hot coffee gone cold, even when you are a fan of cold brew. '

I’m sure if you cut people addicted to coffee they bleed single origin filter coffee.

Logically adding cold cream to your cup of coffee would result a coffee that is not hot. But the law of physics proves the opposite. Coffee with cream stays hotter longer. It seems stupid: if you want coffee to stay warm, why would you mix cold fluid? It comes down to several laws in physics.

1) If you ever felt and noticed the temperature variance when you wear a white color T-shirt and black color T-shirt on sunny summer day must be aware with the first explanation: dark colors absorb more heat than light colors. Which clearly means they release more heat, too. The darkness of black coffee emits more heat and it becomes cold faster. Black coffee is darker, so it emits heat faster than lighter-colored coffee with cream. Which means you can notice the difference with black coffee and café au lait.

2) The second reason is the Stefan-Boltzmann law, which says that hotter surfaces radiate heat faster. Here's how they explain it: Hotter things lose heat faster. Also, the better the variance in temperature between two objects in contact with each other, like the coffee and the air, the faster the hotter one will lose its heat to the cooler one.

3) The final purpose is more viscous liquids — like coffee with cream added — evaporate more slowly, so there is slower heat loss through evaporation. Finally, there's the fact that adding cream to coffee increases its volume and its viscosity. More volume means it takes more time to cool off .

So the physics made is very clean that if you want your coffee to stay hot, add cream as soon as possible.

I love coffee but don't drink it more often this time. Unlike before wherein someone is giving me one to two glass every day.

@long888 addiction is not good!

coffee gives happiness

:)

Coffee is energy! Boom energy!

Look at the numbers... (maybe and my posts :-) @andrea.pacini )
