COFFEE SEASON
Hello everyone, good morning. Going out these winter days has been a bit tedious, considering that without a car, getting from one city to another is complicated by the unreliable transportation system. Added to this, with the avenues flooded, it's understandable that drivers avoid those areas for fear of getting stuck… for that reason, we've had to arm ourselves with coats and umbrellas to walk as far as we have to.
A few days ago, I had to go to El Tigre to do some shopping for my food business. Mercedes came with me; she also had some shopping to do for her new business. She lives there, and I live in the neighboring city of El Tigrito (San José de Guanipa). I left the house all dressed up, and the sky seemed clear. I hadn't walked a couple of blocks when it started to rain… well, I bundled up in my hooded coat and got my umbrella. I don't want to have a relapse after the flu I had last month.
The funniest thing is that I almost felt like Mary Poppins, because the breeze was so strong that the umbrella nearly flew away, and I was holding it, hahaha, I wasn't going to let go for anything in the world. The truth is, after running our errands and buying supplies at a baking shop, we went into a little café in Tigre called Il Piccolo Café to chat. It's a very quiet place in the mornings, and it gets busy at lunchtime, when they sell various kinds of pastichos… the specialty is the mushroom one.
