Different Roasts of Coffee

in #coffee7 years ago (edited)

In Starbucks, we have 3 profiles of roasting that uses for categorizing coffee.

We have Blonde Roast, Medium Roast, Dark Roast.

Each roast profile has flavor to promise in order to suffice drinkers needs.

Blonde Roast

In Philippines, We offer 2 varieties of Blonde Roast. Here is Willow Blend, and the other one is Veranda Blend.

We suggest this kind of roast to those first time to drink coffee. Also for individuals who just want to have a relaxing day. As this coffee features a fruity flavor due to high in acidity that lingers at the side of our tounge and the body or weight of the coffee is almost none.

Since this is roasted in a shorter amount of time than the rest, this has higher caffeine content among the roasts we offer.

If I will compare it to a food, this is like bread filled with strawberry jam.

MEDIUM ROAST

This is Ethiopia (Yes, the birthplace of coffee). Other varieties of Medium Roast are Breakfast Blend, Guatemala Antigua, Kenya, Pike Place Roast, House Blend, Colombia, and Kape Vinta Blend (blended with Philippines' Arabican beans).
Medium roasted coffees are the best sellers, as it features varieties of flavors that is well paired with other food. It features flavors such as nutty, cocoa, citrus, fruits and berries.

I describe this roast as my haven, that I can drink even without sugar, due to medium acidity and body. And with its flavors already made it enjoyable to drink. No preasure as no one's dominating the cup.

This is our cake in coffee world.

Dark Roast

Here is the darkest roast, French Roast. Some other varieties of Dark Roast are * Sumatra, Caffe Verona, Espresso Roast, Fairtrade Italian Roast, and Komodo Dragon Blend.*
These are the heavy weights of the coffee world. These has almost no acidity to wash away the body on our palate. The body or weight will stay as long as it wants on our tounge.

There is misconception that the heavier body of coffee the more caffeine it has. Well, actually this has the least caffeine due to longer time it is being roasted. Maybe it's the weight that make us awake and not the caffeine. As this roast features smoky, earthy, and dark cocoa flavors. Though the darkest roast (Espresso Roast, Fairtrade Italian Roast, French Roast) has a hint of caramelly sweetness, it's just a hint.

Everytime I drink this kind of roast, it means busy day, that the day a head will be a productive day.

In coffee world, this is like kimchi that somtimes you have to mixed with other dish for us to appreciate.

Yes, if this is your first time to try this roast, I suggest to mix it with milk or chocolates.

Roasting Beans

In order to achieve a certain flavors, each beans should undergone different amount of roasting time and temperature.
But not all beans can withstand the amount of time and temperature use for Dark Roast.
It is still depends on the beans density that caused by its topographic location.

Your Roast Profie

Now that you have an idea of different roast profiles. It's about time for you to find which roast would you prefer to match your characteristics and kind of day. Or maybe the flavor that you would want to have on your cup.

Cheers to a wonderful cup of coffee.

THANK YOU!!

I only drink the French Roast! Daily.

Let me guess, you're a metalhead @serratus? As if I compare coffee to music, dark roasts are rock, and french roast is the metal one..hehe cannot take by everyone because of its loudnest but we found sweetness in it. :)

That certainly would make sense! There may be something very "metal" about French Roast.

That certainly would make sense!

Am from Ethiopia and thank you for your introducing the coffee in your picture and writings.
