Coding is just like woodworking
So I’ve been rebuilding my website with a new URL in order to get ready for go live of my business in April.
Due to the nature of the business a storefront isn’t a great solution and so I opted for a mail form. This introduced a couple of problems. The first problem was PHP doesn’t send emails if the PHP ini file isn’t setup correctly for it. As my site is a hosted site and this is an extra paid for feature I can’t go for a proper PHP mailform option.
This introduced a new problem. I can achieve the same thing by using a mailto: link but that meant I had to try and work my way around Hexidecimal codes in order to create the form. I can’t tell you how mind numbing that was but then there’s no feeling greater than getting it to work.
And that brings me to the title of this post. Woodworking is very much the same. It introduces new problems and it seems every solution introduces a new problem until the amount of solutions is greater than the problems and you have a working whole.
There are many frustrations but that makes the rewards much greater. The feeling of achievement you get from problem solving is largely why I chose woodworking as a hobby and also why I did enjoy IT when I wasn’t dealing with people.
