Shaken & Stirred - Cocktail & Mocktail - Introduction 1

in #cocktails6 years ago (edited)

Hi Steematians,

Here I am coming up with a bunch of Cocktails & Mocktails which we can make quite easily. I will be posting a couple of recipes every time so keep coming up.

When it comes to grownup home gatherings, providing cans of weak lager in addition to knock-off spirits with an inexpensive mixer merely doesn’t cut it. In order to impress your visitors, you’ll really should try to show off some grown-up skills – none of them which might go down as smoothly as pouring some timeless cocktails.

In case you’re arranging a special event at your home and thus wish to brush up on some home-bartending basics, here’s an easy bunch of just about everything you’ll should get set up from scratch – even if if ever you’re a total novice or perhaps prefer to ‘wow’ individuals, you might like to arrange in for a definite cocktail making class beforehand.

Full disclaimer: None of these guidelines are going to fool a seasoned bartender, aside from a professional mixologist. In the event you draw in a person of this caliber over, count on them to help make the products or perhaps stay with offering cocktail blending accessories.

If you are attempting to blag bartender testimonies, it is advisable to choose your tools carefully. Choose a few vital resources that look unusual as well as interesting (but skip anything that you don’t seem to know how to use).

A shaker. Cobbler shakers (instead of Boston shakers) are the most effective starting point as they have an internal strainer under the lid.

A double-ended spirit measure. Referred to as a “jigger”. Single on one side, double on the other.

A mixing spoon for stirring and leisurely dispensing liqueurs down. It may also function as a muddler.

Glassware.
Serving something in the wrong glass will make it immediately apparent that you don’t know what you’re doing. Save yourself the embarrassment of serving a Sidecar in a Bellini glass by curating your glassware and cocktail menu around each other.

Highball glasses (tall ones) and rocks glasses (short ones) are mandatory. You should also have something on a stem – coupe glasses are probably the most versatile, but if you have a taste for G&Ts then opt for balloon glasses, or hurricane glasses if you like a tequila sunrise or piña colada. Always check the glass and ice requirements when trying a new cocktail recipe.

Quick Tip: The easiest ways to keep your glasses cold is to put them in the freezer for 3 or 4 hours, leave them upside-down in a bucket of ice for 30 minutes or swirl crushed ice around them while you mix the drink.

Metallic or paper straws – no plastic, please.

Ice. Cubes and crushed is crucial, spheres appear extra-fancy for drinks “on the rocks”.

Tip: Clean your tools between uses. Don’t ruin the flavors of each drink by cross-contaminating it with a different.

Also, stay away from shop-bought cocktails as they’re will not impress anybody.

More about cocktail & mocktail coming up in my next part of the series "Shaken & Stirred" so stay tuned.

till next time.....Cheers ! :)
