Barcelona (Spain) Casa Mila: Euro trip -Day

in #cn6 years ago

In Day 13, I visited another masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí. That is Casa Mila:

When you looked at the building, firstly you would think it is quite strange. Most of the building in the world is straight and ordered. But the outlook of Casa Mila is curvy but have a pattern. So you can feel the building is hisstoric but quite fashionable and artitstic.

Casa Milà is a modernist building in Barcelona. It was built between 1906 and 1912,which was the last private residence designed by architect Antoni Gaudí.In 1984, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The building was commissioned in 1906 by Pere Milà and his wife Roser Segimon. At the time, it was controversial because of its undulating stone facade and twisting wrought iron balconies...

One of the attraction of Casa Milà is the Patios. There is a bridge connecting the building, without support under the bridge, making it like floating in the countyard : )

The roof is also another attraction. The roof is also innovative. There were six skylights/staircase exits on the rooftop, each of it has its special shape, like a statue in the roof:

The stepped roof of La Pedrera, called "the garden of warriors" by the poet Pere Gimferrer because the chimneys appear to be protecting the skylights.

When I visited the Casa Mila, I wonder how Antoni Gaudí can think about the curvy shape of building? Actually he thought about a good idea, by connecting the iron chain and converting it back, by the effect of gravity, the chain fall down with curvy pattern. So that was a very brillant idea!

That’s end of my Day trip 13. In the next day, I would visit Arc de Triomf.
