在中国，每年的农历七月初七都是传统节日-七夕节，此乃中国传统节日中最具浪漫色彩的一个节日。

相传，每逢这个夜晚天上的织女和牛郎便在鹊桥相会。织女传闻乃一美丽聪慧、心灵手巧的仙女，凡间女子在当晚虔诚地像她祈求智慧和巧艺，同时求赐美满姻缘。

Under the help of celestial cattle, the Cowhand flew to heaven with his son and daughter. At the time when he wanted to catch up with his wife, the Queen Mother took off one of her gold hairpins and made a stroke. Suddenly, one billowy river appeared in front of them. They were separated on the two sides forever. Their loyalty to love touched magpies, thousands of magpies came to build a bridge for them to meet each other. The Queen Mother was eventually moved and allowed them to meet each year on the 7th of the july lunar month. So their meeting date has been called "Qi Xi" (Double Seventh).
