I like to show how someone who does not speak or read Chinese use these apps and I still need help from my Chinese friends when ordering using other Chinese app and websites

First of all, it is a good thing WECHAT & ALIPAY release English version of their app.
When I came in 2014, both were only in Chinese and would only accept registration with a valid Chinese National ID , which is not issued of foreigners. Now you can register with a Chinese phone number and add your Chinese bank acct
Now they are expanding in HK. So they should be accepting HK phone numbers and bank accts

The peer to peer money transfer alone is very useful

I have paid my friend who order lunch for us

And bought Bitcoins from some guy in LOCALBITCOINS

The inside the apps there are options to pay utilities like electricies , gas , water , internet & telephone. Though they are in Chinese. I usually scan the QR code in my bill and it pays my bill for me

A lot of mobile apps accept payments thru ALIPAY or Wechat

I even paid for my tours in HK with KLOOK

I even order electronic goods from JD.com mobile app. But I asked my friend to verify what i ordered
