Triton Fountain

Following on from the previous part, the shower did not last too long so we could continue on with our day unimpeded. Near the Jubilee Gates (that famous rectangular shaped entrance-way bearing the the royal emblem above it), there is the Triton Fountain, which is a group of bronze sculptures representing a sea god trumpeting into a conch shell with two mermaids either side of his feet.

I discovered later on that those sculptures were designed by William McMillan, who also designed one of the fountains in Trafalgar Square. As you can see, his statues are indeed extraordinary works of art!

Just located behind the fountain, a number of palm trees and flowers re-create a tropical themed area. It was simply a gorgeous sight and must have taken a lot of effort design and implement, as well as maintain afterwards.

Queen Mary’s Gardens

As we walked towards the centre of the park, I came across Queen Mary’s Gardens which is a must see! There are thousands of English roses with hundreds of varieties. The roses were in full bloom during these warm months and it felt almost euphoric to walk among all this beauty. Also notewrothy was the heavenly scent encompassing all the different varieties! Just magical and one of my favourite parts of this huge, rolling park.

I loved the quirky names given the roses too which were nearly as unique as the flowers themselves: Colorific, Doris Day, Hot Chocolate, Easy Going, etc... Odd, but charming all at once, lol!

(One of my favourites has got to be those gorgeous pale roses!)

You will find some deckchairs scattered about but unfortunately they come with a charge. If you have some spare change though, it can be great for people who just like to watch the world go by.

While we were there, we found a happy couple getting getting their wedding snaps near the rose garden with a long white limo parked right outside the Jubilee gate. What a ideal location. Surrounded by beauty to mark a memorable occasion. How wonderful!

Regent’s University

The Regent’s University is situated right next to the Jubilee gates.

The Boating Lake and Wildlife

Another fine highlight of Regent's Park worthy of mentioning are the aquatic attractions. There are quite a few elegant ponds as well as a extensive and beautiful lake filled with many types of marine wildlife. If you are keen on watersporting activities, it is also possible to rent rowing or pedal boats and take a trip around this serene boating lake.

Do remember to bring some small bread pieces if you would like to feed the ducks, geese or swans that live near the lake. It can be tonnes of fun, especially for families with kids!

Finally, Regent’s Park is also home to the world famous London Zoo which is located at the north end of the park. Unfortunately, we simply ran out of time to visit, however it leaves us with something to do the next time around!

All in all, a marvellous and spellbinding place to spend a sunny summers afternoon.

Simply put, Regent’s Park may be the best park London has to offer and a welcoming relief from the busy everyday schedule of life in the big city. It checks all the boxes for what anyone could want out of a park. Whether it be exercising, walking, relaxing, looking for aesthetic gardening inspirations for your own home or even wanting to take some incredible photography. There will, without doubt, be something for everyone and I couldn't recommend it more to anyone who wishes to visit this styling, enchanting place.

Triton
