Happy Chinese New Year Everyone!祝大家春节快乐！

Last night was Chinese New Year’s Eve. This year I didn’t go back to China for the Spring Festival, but my friends invited us to visit her home and spending the Chinese New Year together. We watched the Spring Festival gala together at her home, then began to make dumplings and traditional Chinese fondue.

昨天晚上是大年三十。今年我没有回国过年，但是朋友邀请了我们去她家过年，我们在她家看了先是一起看了会春晚，然后开始包包子，做火锅。

I came from North China, in general, our New Year tradition is watching Spring Festival gala and at the same time make dumplings. At 12:00 midnight we begin to eat dumplings. When I was young we always putted coins in few dumplings, if someone who got the dumplings with coins, then she/he will be the luckiest person in next year. But now many people think that the coins are not very hygienic, so they put the red dates in the dumpling, the person who got the red date also can have good fortune in the new year.

我是北方人，我们北方一般都是一边看春晚一边包饺子，到半夜十二点的时候开始吃饺子，我们会在饺子里放硬币，谁吃到新的一年就会发大财。但是现在大家很多人都会觉得放硬币不太卫生，所以会选择放红枣在饺子馅里，吃到红枣的人也预示着新的一年能鸿运当头。
然后半夜十二点的时候还会出去放鞭炮，预示着新的一年一飞冲天，旺旺大吉。

In China, we also have the tradition that give kids red pocket with some money inside, so I also gave my friend’s baby a red pocket. 😜
当然我们还有给红包的传统，我给了我朋友家的小孩一个小红包。

自从国内有了微信红包之后，每到除夕夜，大家就开始在亲朋友好友群里疯狂抢红包，就算抢到一毛钱大家也觉得很开心，因为是种乐趣。
