Traveling to the Inuyama Castle

Inuyama Castle

Inuyama Castle is located in Inuyama in Japan. It was built during the Sengoku period (~15th Century) and was destroyed in the next hundred years during wars. The main Castle was the only remain and was preserved as the national treasure of Japan.

Inuyama Castle was sitting still in the hilltop and guarding the city from any invasion.

I was visiting the Inuyama Castle during my trip to Nagoya in the winter. It took around an hour for the train to go to Inuyama from Nagoya. And you could expect two different ways to reach the castle where I would explain below.

There were two routes to reach the Castle

Route #1: Take off the train at Inuyama Station and walked along the path as shown. You would pass through the main business area in Inuyama and do some shopping if you wish.

Route #2: Take off the train at Inuyama Yuen Station and walked along the riverside of the Kiso River where the scenery is beautiful.

I decided to go with route #2 after consulting the staff of my hostel, as I would like to enjoy the natural beauty rather then do some shoppings for which I could do in my usual days.

There would be 'Dong Dong' sound form the level crossing facility wherever a train was going to pass through.

I liked the city Inuyama for its peace and relaxing atmosphere, rather then some big cities like Tokyo where the lives were rushing and fighting all the days.

I was walking along the river side of the Kiso River and the scenery was so beautiful. The blue sky and greenish blue water matched to form the amazing picture.

The Inuyama Castle sat still on the hilltop and watched the city like the king .

I followed the guidelines and reach a little shrine near the entrance to the Inuyama Castle.

Another Shrine with more beautiful temples and toriis.

I passed through the shrine and started to climb up to the Inuyama Castle. It was not such a difficult climbing but it did required some stamina.

Finally reached the Inuyuma Castle

I brought a ticket to enter to the castle area and found that it was quite a small area. There was a little garden and an open ground but nothing else.

I entered to the Castle and climbed up to the top to enjoy the amazing view from the high spot. The staircase was so slippy especially you were required to take off your shoe before entering.

Quite a small area inside the castle

The view on the top floor was gorgeous. I could view the city Inuyama and the Kiso River from the high ground. Though there were not some great building and attractions nearby but the scenery was still somehow breathtaking.

The railing here was quite short and accidents could be easily happened. I had to take extra care when I was walking around.

The interior of the top floor was the showroom introducing the owners of the castle in the history. I could learn more about the history of the castle and even the city Inuyama.

I left the Inuyama Castle and headed to the 'Chosho' near the castle. May be I would introduce more about the area in the coming future.

First shot is very nicely capture. Small suggestion: when you have 2 photos, one after another, I think it's good to leave a bit of space in between. :-)

Thanks for your advise! I did miss the spacing haha... it's hard to proof read but I will try my best next time :D

You're welcome

Amazing blog...beautiful places ^_^

Japan is one of the best places on earth! I spend two weeks there last year and was blown away by the cleanliness and the orderliness...not to mention hospitality. Have you tried the red bean stuffed fishes? I wish they had good ones here in the States. Happy travels!

Really beautiful place, I guess the walk up there was amazing!

Doing quite a bite of travelling captures too, check out @dbeauhaire !

Maybe the railing was made for short people.

I've been here! It was so peaceful. We went to an onsen later and it was magical. Cheers!
