A flash in the pan - the beauty of blooming! 昙花一现—绽放的美丽！

The Epiphyllum in my friend’s house is going to bloom, so she invited me to watch. I used to hear that it was a flash in the pan. I'm so excited that I really want to see it. My friend says she has raised it for 3 years and this is the first year to bloom . This is the bud appearance before blooming, rising up slightly .

朋友家的昙花要开了， 邀我去观赏。 以前总是听说昙花一现， 这回真的要看到了，很是兴奋，立马去她家看个究竟。这株昙花朋友说养了3年，在她的精心照料下，没想到这么快就要开花了。这是开前的样子，花苞轻微的抬头向上。

Speaking of Epiphyllum, first I will introduce it to all of you . Epiphyllum is a cactus, it is said that there were a lot of benefits to plant it :

说到昙花，首先给大家科普一下昙花常识，昙花属仙人掌科，养昙花据说有很多好处：

Epiphyllum is opposite to other plants, it can inhale carbon dioxide at night and release oxygen.
Although the flowering season is short, only three or four hours, but when flowering, beautiful, noble, delicate fragrance overflowing. Let the air in the room clean and pleasant. Moreover, it has the function of sterilization and bacteriostasis, so it is loved by the people who grow flowers.

昙花和其他植物相反， 它可以夜间吸入二氧化碳，释放氧气。它花期虽短，只有三，四个小时，但是开花的时候美丽高贵，清香四溢。让房间内的空气清新怡人。而且具有杀菌抑菌的作用，因此深受养花人的喜爱。

About Epiphyllum, there is a beautiful legend:

关于昙花， 还有个美丽的传说：

Epiphyllum was a goddess, she bloomed every day and grew beautifully and splendid four seasons . Later, she fell in love with the young people who watered and weeded her every day. This was known by the Jade Emperor, the Jade Emperor was furious and want to break up the couple. He caught up her and put her into a year only a moment of Epiphyllum , she didn’t see her lover any more . The young man was sent to the Gridhrakuta mountain monk, was called Weituo, let him forget the past and forget her.

昙花原是一位花神，她每天都开花，四季都灿烂美丽。后来她还爱上了每天给她浇水除草的年轻人。此事给玉帝得知，玉帝于是大怒要拆散鸳鸯。玉帝将花神抓了起来，把她贬为每年只能开一瞬间的昙花，不让她再和情郎相见，还把那年轻人送去灵鹫山出家，赐名韦陀，让他忘记前尘，忘记花神。
Over the years passed , Weituo really forgot her, devote himself to learning Buddhism, but she could not forget her lover at all .

多年过去了，韦陀果真忘了花神，潜心习佛，渐有所成。而花神却怎么也忘不了那个曾经照顾她的小伙子。

She knew that every spring Weituo would come to the hill and picked up the tea for Buddha. So She gathered the whole year's essence to bloom at that moment. She hopes the Weituo can look back at her and remembered her.
她知道每年暮春时分，韦陀总要下山来为佛祖采集朝露煎茶。所以昙花就选择在那个时候开放。她把集聚了整整一年的精气绽放在那一瞬间。她希望韦陀能回头看她一眼，能记起她。

But thousands of years past, Weituo never remembered her.

可是千百年过去了，韦陀一年年的下山来采集朝露。昙花一年年的默默绽放。韦陀始终没有记起她。

Until one day, she came to the heaven and saw Weituo . Weituo also finally remembered her, the Buddha knew and let Weituo went down to the hill and finish their love. This is a flash in the pan – just only for Weituo ! So Epiphyllum is also called Weituo flower. Because she saw Weituo in the sunset , So it can only bloom at night .

直到有一天，花神在佛国见到了韦陀。韦陀也终于想起来前世因缘，佛祖知道后准韦陀下凡了断未了的因缘。这就是昙花一现，只为韦陀，所以昙花又名韦陀花。也因为昙花是在夕阳后见到韦陀。所以昙花都是夜间开放。

Throughout Epiphyllum’s life, she gathered all her energy to bloom only at night , so it is also said “the beautiful moment, a moment of eternity.”

昙花终其毕生精力，只为一夜绽放，因此有刹那间的美丽，一瞬间的永恒。

Looking at the beautiful Epiphyllum, I can not help thinking of the meaning of life: are you willing to live your life like a dream, muddle along without any aim over life, or are you willing to end your life with all of your life energy like the Epiphyllum blooming beautifully only for a short moment?

看着美丽的昙花，我不禁想到人生的意义：人生如梦， 你是愿意浑浑噩噩过一生， 还是终其一生之精力，也如昙花一样，绽放瞬间的美丽呢？

Three hours of blossom, in exchange for the beauty of a lifetime! After blooming, Epiphyllum spent a lifetime of effort!

三小时的盛开，换来一世的美丽！盛开后的昙花，耗费了毕生的精力！

In the long course of history, life itself is no long or short . Even longer life in the long river is only a moment, and then a short life is bittersweet in the long process. Do yourself, like Epiphyllum, even if the life is short, do your best to bloom your beauty!
