Hong Kong Snapshot (29) (With Video) Sheung Wan(1) – Wing Lee Street, witnessing the sorrow of HK 香港随拍(29) (附有视频) 上环(1) – 《岁月神偷》的永利街，见证香港的悲哀

這本是一條名不經傳的小街，一條不足100米長的小街，因為一部電影《歲月神偷》，讓它得到了大眾的關注，也讓它，從此變得不倫不類，這條街，叫永利街。

It was not a well-known street. It was only street shorter than 100m. Because of a HK film “Echoes of the Rainbow”, It went into the eyes of HK people. And because of it, It becomes a street of neither fish nor fowl. It is Wing Lee Street.

永利街位於香港的上環區，上環是香港最早開發的地區，從1842年香港島割讓給英國，上環就成為了殖民政府首批發展的地區之一，至今仍充滿了不少殖民的歷史和遺痕，而永利街，就瑟縮於上環的一個小小角落。

Wing Lee Street is located in Sheung Wan. Sheung Wan is one of the earliest developed district in HK since HK became the colony of Britain in 1842. Today, Sheung Wan still keep a lot of history and character of the colony.

永利街其實並不是街，而只是一條小路。這條街沒有行車路，只是數棟唐樓外面的一條行人路，一般人如果不熟識附近的街道，根本不會找到永利街。本來這條街在2007年就經過政府落實重建，但因為一部電影《歲月神偷》，改變了它的命運。

Wing Lee Street is actually not a street but a path only. There is no car in the street. It’s only a path outside the tong laus (tenement buildings of old HK) of the street. It you don’t know Sheung Wan so much, you may probably not be able to discover the street. But the film “Echoes of the Rainbow” change it’s life.

《歲月神偷》是一部香港電影，故事講述香港60年代一個基層家庭的故事，也是導演由他成長經歷改編而成的故事。殊不知這部電影在香港電影金像獎得到四個獎項，包括最佳男主角、最佳新演員及最佳編劇獎，更獲得第60屆柏林影展的最佳電影水晶熊獎，更是當年奧斯卡金像獎競逐最佳外語片的香港代表。故事中主角家庭的場景，正是永利街，原因是永利街是香港難得仍保留了香港60年代風貌的街道。

“Echoes of the Rainbow” is a HK film with the story about a working family of HK in the 1960s. It is also the life experience of the director. The film was awarded four prize of the HK film award and it was also awarded Crystal Bear for the Best Film in the Children’s Jury "Generation Kplus" of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. It was the representative of HK to compete for a best foreign language film Oscar. The background of the story is Wing Lee Street, the only street in HK still keep the style of the 1960s.

自獲得柏柏林影展的最佳電影水晶熊獎後，香港民間爭取完整保留永利街的聲音日益壯大，最終令香港政府讓步取消永利街的重建計劃，轉為保育，就連現任香港特首林鄭月蛾於特首競選時，也曾在永利街拍攝競選宣傳短片，只可惜，所謂的保育，卻讓永利街變得不倫不類。

The street was initial under the urban renewal project of HK. Since being awarded Crystal Bear for the Best Film in the Children’s Jury "Generation Kplus" of the 60th Berlin International Film Festival, the noise to preserve the culture of the street was raised and finally the HK government changed its mind and decided to preserve the street. But it sucks that it makes Wing Lee Street is now neither fish nor fowl.

自香港政府決定保育永利街，更開始對永利街的唐樓進行修膳工作，這本是一件好事，但卻讓永利街失去了原有的特色。本來，是重建還是保育，任一選擇都沒有對錯，重建能善用土地功能，保育則能保留社區特色，而政府最後選擇了保育，但保育的目的，就是保留該社區的原有特色吧。但永利街的保育，卻完全的破壞了街道的原有特色。

Since the HK government decided the preserve the Wing Lee Street, it started the renovate of Tong Laus of the street. It seems to be a good thing but it destroys the original style and culture of the street.

永利街本來是小型印刷廠的集中地，也是緊密的社區，鄰居們相互照顧，更會一起用膳，盡現香港60年代的舊時光與純樸的人情味。只可惜，在政府當初打算重建永利街時，收購了大部份的土地，舊居民走的走，印刷廠搬的搬，整條永利街尤如死街一條。

Wing Lee Street was initial a concentration of HK small printing companies. It was also a closed community. Neighbors helped and lived with each other, which shows the old days and warm hospitality of HK. But the HK government acquired all the buildings of the street. Old residents left and old printing companies moved out. The street now become a dead street.

這天我走進永利街，見到的仍是一棟棟五六十年代建成的唐樓，不過經過翻新的唐樓，早已失去了當年的特色，尤如全新樓盤一樣，沒有了當年唐樓的味道。街上還有一座仍未翻新的唐樓，相對之下，完全兩個模樣。

Today I arrived Wing Lee Street. I still can saw the old Tong Laus of the 1960s. But the Tong Laus have been renovated and lost their old style. They are just like new buildings. There is still one Tong Lau not renovated. You may see the great different between them.

我嘗試走進其中一座翻新了的唐樓，可惜裡面重門深鎖，見不到裡面的模樣，走回大街往上一看，只見唐樓的露台們都空空如也，我甚至懷疑這些單位是否有人居住。然後我再走進唯一沒有翻新的唐樓，上到一樓時，原來單位早已變了地盤，正在翻新中，但依稀也可見到50年前的香港模樣，只可惜，一至兩個月後，它們都會變成今日香港隨處可見的一般樓宇。

I entered one renovated Tong Lau but couldn’t go into the house. Going back to the street, I looked up. All terraces had nothing. I doubted if there were people living. Then I entered the tong lau that still not renovated. And I found it’s already a renovation site. I still could see some old style of HK from the house. But I was sure that it would all be lost after one to two months, become a normal flat in HK.

我在永利街逗留了大約半個小時，過程中只遇到一名保安，到底永利街還是否有居民存在，我真的不知道，只知道，所謂的政府保育，卻把永利街搞死了。這本是一條充滿人情味的街道，如今卻是死寂，什麼香港60年代的歲月和味道早已失去，可能，留下這條不倫不類的街道，倒不如當初決定重建還好。

I stayed in the street for around half hour. I couldn’t see any person but one security only. I really didn’t know if there was still people living in the street. I only knew, the preservation work of the HK Government had brought the street to death. The old street with warm hospitality had gone. I thought it was even better for the street to be renewed.

不過，這也許就是現實的寫照，《歲月神偷》中鄰居相伴的情景，在今天的香港又如何能見到，鄰居相見如不相識，各家自掃門前雪，就算是永利街，也該應隨著社會的發展，「冷漠」的發展而放棄它堅守多年的香港精神。在這裡，我強烈推介大家觀看《歲月神偷》這部電影，只有從這部電影，才能讓我們重溫永利街，重溫舊日香港的情懷，和香港已失去的人情味。老實說，我在寫這篇文章時，第一次看了《歲月神偷》，我已五年沒有哭過了，但這部電影卻讓我流了一滴眼淚。我哭並不是因為電影情節的感人，而是香港今天不知變成了什麼模樣的悲哀。以下是《歲月神偷》電影的連結：http://www.le.com/ptv/vplay/1242877.html。

Maybe, the street portrays the reality. We already can’t find the warm hospitality just like the film “Echoes of the Rainbow” in HK anymore. We seem don’t know our neighbours. Even Wing Lee Street should follow the trend and give up its original style，to be indifferent, just like today HK. I srongly recommend you to watch the film “Echoes of the Rainbow”. We can only revisit the old Wing Lee Street from the film and feel the old feeling of HK, the human kindness of the old HK. I would say, I watched the film just before I write this article. My last cry was 5 years ago. And this film made me shed a tear. The tear was not due to the story of the film, but the sadness of how HK become, becoming a city I feel strange. 香港的未來到底該如何走，是應重拾如《歲月神偷》中的拼勁精神，還是貫徹今天香港的短視和功利？香港曾作為一個那麼獨突，世界首屈一指的存在，我實在不希望在我有生之年，看到香港沉淪，淪為一個平凡的二線城市，這是我對香港的情結所在，但也是我微薄力量的無力之處。

How would the future of HK be? Should we pick back up the spirit of the film, or keep the short sight and Utilitarian of today HK? HK was a very special and one of the best city in the world. I don’t want to see HK to sink and become an ordinary city when I am still alive. This is my complex to HK, but it also make me feel weak all over.
