Wesak Day @ Green Avenue Elderly Home

Happy Thursday!

The day before yesterday is an important day for all Buddhist friends to celebrate Wesak Day ‘Buddha’s birthday’.

After I visited a Burmese Temple, I joined a Buddhist society to spend my day with elderly people who staying in Green Avenue Elderly Home in Singapore. As volunteer, we prepared some snacks, desserts, gifts, and karaoke videos to provide all the old folks who staying in the Elderly Home. Our mission is not just provided the foods and gifts, mainly is to express our care and love to old folks and also cheer up all of them.

前天是卫塞节，也是佛陀诞生的日子，对佛教徒来说是一年一度的重大日子。一大清早，我去了一间缅甸佛寺礼拜后，便参与了佛教团体的活动，一起去慈悲，这次我们到了一家疗养院关怀老人，就这样渡过了一个很有意义的卫塞节。

This is a Burmese Buddhist Temple located at Balestier Road. Early of morning, the temple is already very crowded. Many prayers bring flowers, fruits and candles for praying.

这是位于马里士他路的一间缅甸佛寺。一大清早，寺里就人山人海。信徒们都携带香花，水果和莲花灯来供养佛陀。

Cover with gold leaf on Buddha statue, pray for good health, prosperity and good career.

佛像贴金。跟据善知识，功德无量，得健康长寿，事业顺利，财源广进。

After that, I went to Green Avenue Elderly Home.

之后来到了这家疗养院，这是疗养院的内观。

A Buddha pool was prepared for bathing the Baby Buddha in elderly home。

我们也准备了浴佛池，让阿公阿婆们也能在佛诞日浴佛，祈福健康平安。

This auntie was so excited to do bathing the Baby Buddha.

阿婆很兴奋, 可以在佛诞日，浴佛祈福。

他们是行动较方便的老人，来参加我们为他们准备的活动。

The volunteers tried to guide the old auntie to sing with us.

在义工的带领下，我们唱歌跳舞逗阿公阿婆们开心。

She gave positive response and danced with us!
When we saw the elderly get amused, and smiling happily with us. Our mission is completed :)

这位阿婆反应良好，她非常开心地和义工们一起跳起舞来！
看到阿公阿婆们笑得开心，我们的任务也完成了。前天过得很有意义，太开心了:)
