Forensic Medicine. The word itself is intriguing . Have you ever wondered what does this field of medicine actually deal with? If we were to take the literal meaning of Forensic it states:
relating to or denoting the application of scientific methods and techniques to the investigation of crime.
The word Forensic is a very vast term which deals with all kinds of techniques and methods to investigate any crime.
Forensic Medicine deals with the investigation of a sudden death of a person. Be it a death from a bullet, a snake bite, poison or strangling. The literal meaning of Forensic Medicine states:
Forensic medicine is a group of medical specialties which deal with the examination and diagnosis of individuals who have been injured by or who have died because of external or unnatural causes such as poisoning, assault, suicide and other forms of violence.
Death rate due to snake bites is on a rise. Snake bites cause Renal pathology in the body which leads to dysfunctioning of kidneys which in turn leads to toxicity and death.
A scoring criteria from the anatomical field, histology has been adopted for the present semi-quantitative analysis. The scoring system (with scores from 0 - 5) developed by the modern study was effective, valid and was able to distinguish between snakebite and control.
