#CLUB100 || GESTATION PERIOD OF CAT || HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR PREGNANT CAT

in #club1002 years ago

Cats are one of the most adorable and cute animals to be tamed. Many people think that cats are better than dogs. Cats are easy to care for, quiet, and relatively affordable. They even groom themselves. Owning a cat can bring unconditional love and companionship to your life. Having a feline friend can also help to relieve stress and improve your heart health. Like all animals, cats require unconditional love and support from the owner but this sets a high bar when the cat is pregnant. I also own a cat that got pregnant a few months back, and I'll let you all know the basics of taking care of a pregnant cat.

Cats can keep going into heat every 2 to 3 weeks making them ready to reproduce more often. A cat's pregnancy lasts about 63-65 days. So, a cat can have kittens when they are only 6 months old. The signs which include early pregnancy are Morning Sickness, change in appetite, changes in the body, heat cycles, behavioral changes, etc. Noticeable weight gain in a few weeks, about 2 to 4 pounds, swollen and pink nipples occur around week three of pregnancy which indicates pregnancy.

Once you know that your cat is pregnant, take her to the nearest veterinary clinic and get her checked as soon as possible to avoid any ill results. The vet may perform an ultrasound if he thinks that there's any problem.

Now that it has been confirmed by your veterinarian that your cat is pregnant, you will need to discuss the nutritional needs of your pregnant cat. Your cat is now eating for two (or three, or four, or five…) she will need additional nutrients. Drinking lots of water is essential for keeping your pregnant cat hydrated. Throughout the pregnancy be sure to pay attention to her appetite and her comfort level. If your cat loses interest in her food or is visibly distressed, it could signal a problem with her pregnancy.

Your veterinary team will help you understand the best schedule for checkups throughout your cat's pregnancy. By palpating and gently pushing on your pregnant cat's tummy, your veterinarian may be able to feel the fetuses. This usually occurs between the 17th and 25th days of pregnancy.

Your cat may purposely seek out solitude when she goes into labor. Most cats would prefer to be left alone, and they definitely don’t want to be pet or touched while they are giving birth. It’s best to give your pregnant cat as much privacy as possible while also leaving yourself the ability to monitor the birthing process for any signs of issues or distress. It’s perfectly fine to pick up and handle newborn kittens; carefully touching them will not cause your cat to abandon her kittens or injure them.

After your cat has delivered her kittens, you should take both mom and her kittens to the veterinarian for a post-natal checkup within 24-48 hours. If you don't want your cats to reproduce you can also have them sprayed
